Samsung Display to invest in RGB OLEDoS for XR devices, aiming for mass production by 2028

Samsung Display (SDC) is reportedly in talks with suppliers to order RGB OLEDoS (OLED on Silicon) deposition equipment in the second half of 2026, with a target to introduce the equipment in 2027 and begin mass production in 2028. The technology, which deposits red, green, and blue light-emitting devices directly for higher brightness and efficiency, aims to improve visual experience in XR devices. This contrasts with the currently commercialized WOLED (white OLED with color filter) approach, which suffers from light loss.
