Switzerland Rejects Proposal to Cap Population at 10 Million

Swiss voters rejected a right-wing proposal to limit the country's population to 10 million by 2050, with 54.79% opposing and 45.21% supporting the initiative. The proposal, which also called for ending the free movement agreement with the EU, was defeated in a referendum on June 14. Turnout was 58.86%.
