Google and UC San Diego build data center with 2,000 old smartphones

Google and the University of California San Diego are building a data center using 2,000 unused Google Pixel smartphones for cloud computing applications. Researchers have turned old Google Pixel phones into a low-cost computing cluster, with single-core performance exceeding that of EPYC servers.
