Omdia downgrades 2026 display panel shipment forecast to 6% decline

On June 15, research firm Omdia revised its 2026 display panel market outlook, lowering unit shipment expectations from a previously forecast decline of -2% to -6%, and area shipment growth from +6% to +1%. The downgrade is attributed to a significant contraction in demand, with TV panel demand expected to fall 2.0% year-over-year and notebook panel demand reduced by about 7.2 million units. Rising upstream component prices are forcing equipment manufacturers to balance competitive pricing with increasing production costs, potentially leading to specification downgrades or margin compression, and high prices may dampen consumer purchasing intentions.
