JoongAng Group enters court receivership, media industry on edge

JoongAng Group, including its affiliates JTBC, ContentreeJoongAng, and MegaboxJoongAng, has applied for court receivership. On December 16, the Seoul Rehabilitation Court issued preservation orders and comprehensive injunctions for JoongAng Holdings, JTBC, ContentreeJoongAng, MegaboxJoongAng, and JoongAng P&I. Earlier, on December 12, JTBC defaulted on a 20.6 billion won debt payment. The company cited preserving enterprise value as the reason for the restructuring filing.
