China Regulator Summons Sam's Club Over Food Safety Issues

China's State Administration for Market Regulation summoned Walmart (China) Investment Co., Ltd., the operator of Sam's Club, over repeated food safety problems found in both physical stores and online channels. The regulator demanded strict compliance with food safety laws. Sam's Club responded by acknowledging the issues, apologizing, and establishing a special rectification team led by management to conduct a full-chain self-inspection and improve food safety controls.
